Ingham County Animal Control Battles Dog Fighting

A local animal control is looking for your help tonight.

He's extremely friendly and happy to see you but a closer look at the dog tells the tale of a fighter.

Jamie McAloon Lampman, Director at Ingham County Animal Control: "He's got multiple dog bite wounds, the dog bite wounds he has are not just from one incident, he's been fought over a period of time."

Animal Control says the latest fight happened here behind the m9 party store on Saturday night.

McAloon Lampman: "It's definitely not an uncommon area to have these types of problems for us."

And now animal control is trying to figure out who left the dog behind, tied up and bloody.

McAloon Lampman: "We are darn serious about getting these people."

That's why they're offering a 500 dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those involved.

McAloon Lampman: "We really gotta find these people, we've really gotta find these people."

As for the dog, it might not be too late.

McAloon Lampman: "He doesn't seem to have that type of dog aggression that we see in most of the fighting dogs."

And she says that may give him a chance-- at a new home.

Ingham County Animal Control says right now it has about 20 dogs at its shelter that have some involvement in dog fighting.
