15 Month Old Drowns in Family Pool

Posted:

It happened near Vander Cook Lake in Summit Township, just south of Jackson.

A neighborhood, still in shock, after learning Jordynn Watson somehow slipped out of sight and into her grandmother's pool around 7p.m. Wednesday.

"She was always happy, just running around with a smile on her face and her hair all up in little barretts and stuff," said Nicole Delarosa, a neighbor.

Investigators told 6 News there is a fence around the backyard, but direct access to the above ground pool from the home.

"The pool is not immediately adjacent to the house, but close enough where the child was able to get in the pool and unfortunately drown," Sheriff Steve Rand, from Jackson County.

Nicole Delarosa doesn't know the family personally, but says she would see Jordynn around all the time.

"She's going to be missed," said Delarosa.

Deputies say others may have been around the pool at the time of the drowning.

"How many or what age, I don't know, but obviously it's just a tragic, tragic accident."

When emergency responders arrived, they tried to revive her on the scene. She was later taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"And that all I can say is that we're praying and that our hearts are with the family in this matter and we wish them all the best."
