UPDATE: A third person has died as the result of a two car crash on I-96 on Sunday.
Susan Bloomstine, a 49-year-old woman from Wyoming, Michigan, died some time on Sunday night or Monday morning.
Bloomstine is the third person to die in the accident. George Tissen, a 54-year-old man from Fowlerville, died when his Ford Ranger went into the media and crossed into the westbound lanes of I-96. Police believe he may have had a medical problem just before the accident.
It happened west of Highland Road in Howell Township.
The crash also killed 80-year-old Charles Wright, who was in a Ford Taurus along with Bloomstine and her husband. Bloomstine's husband is the only survivor.
Police closed the road for four hours while they investigated.
ORIGINAL STORY: 6 News has learned two people were killed in a head-on crash on I-96 Sunday night.
According to Livingston Co. Sheriff Bob Bezotte, a car headed eastbound crossed the median and hit a vehicle traveling westbound. The driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line died. There were no passengers in that car.
According to the sheriff, 3 people were in the vehicle hit in the westbound lanes. One person was killed and another critically injured. The sheriff was unclear if the third person was hurt.
The highway was closed west of Fowlerville in both directions for several hours but all lanes are open now.
