New Report Could Bring 20K Jobs to MI

Posted:

New clean car standards could mean 20,000 new jobs for the state of Michigan.

A group of Labor Unioners and Environmental Organizers released a report in Lansing on Monday. The Bluegreen Alliance says America spends $1 billion a day on foreign oil and new standards would make a significant dent in that spending.

"So instead of investing the dollars in imported oil from overseas, we're investing in our local ingenuity and job creation on the homefront," said Energy and Climate Policy Coordinator Sarah Mulkoff for NWF.

The group says the savings will come in the form of manufacturing jobs created with more production of light duty vehicles.
