Investigation Continues into MSU Student Attack

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Police Department is continuing its investigation of the reported assault that took place against an MSU student this past weekend.

Witnesses have been interviewed and officials do not believe that attack was based on the victim's religion. ELPD is still looking for other witnesses that have not been located. They are encouraged to contact ELPD at 1-877-ELPD-TIP.

Zachary Tennen says that two men attacked him after claiming to be Jewish, then stapled his mouth shut. It's unknown still how that metal got there.

"This assault, as with any other assault, will be investigated fully to hold any and all suspects accountable," said ELPD Capt. Jeff Murphy. "This is a serious assault and ELPD is putting every resource available into the investigation."

An 18-year-old Farmington Hills man has been identified as a suspect in the case. Once the investigation is complete, all evidence will be turned over to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office for review.
