Alro Plastics in Jackson Catches Fire

Posted:

Employees at Jackson's Alro Plastics got an early start to their Labor Day weekend after a fire broke out at the Enterprise Street facility.

Smoke filled most of the building as agencies from around the county worked to put the flames out quickly.

The Deputy Fire Chief says a vacuum system, which picks up pieces of plastic left over after cutting accidently caught fire.

"All the fire was contained to the collection system. But we had some heavy smoke showing. Kind of a dusty brown, which is not uncommon for that type because a system like that is so much of a dust product," said Deputy Chief Dave Wooden with the Jackson Fire Department.

No one was injured in the fire.

Work there stopped for the day, but it should be back up and running soon.
