A 20-year-old Lansing man faces multiple charges after an attempted robbery gone wrong.
Delvonta Mitchell faces two counts of assault with intent to rob while armed and a felony firearms charge after appearing in court on Monday.
Police arrested him on Sunday night after they say he tried to rob several people leaving a convenience store.
Witnesses say Mitchell approached two men and a woman just before 7 p.m. demanding money. He eventually got into a car with them and took out a gun. The men then started wrestling with the suspect, and say he hit one of them - a 51-year-old Lansing man - in the head with the gun.
But police say Mitchell jumped out the car, ran away, and apparently got into another car.
When they tried to stop the suspect's car, police say three men got out and tried to run away. Officers set up a perimeter and found the Mitchell along the 700 block of Princeton.
A judge set his bond at $35,000. He's scheduled to be back in court next week.
