Company Brings 150 New Jobs to Hillsdale

Paragon Metals is opening a new plant in Hillsdale, that is expected to bring around 150 new jobs.

"A lot of our customers were coming to us, saying, hey there's a lot of other facilities that are closing their doors, can you help us out, Paragon? And we launched jobs and we were hiring people in that 2009 downturn. So now that we're through that, some of our customers are coming back saying, wow you guys have made it through that bad times. Now we see the continued growth being financially secure that we are," said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tom Nichols.

The precision engineered parts company is making a $20-million investment opening a new plant creating jobs that could go to just about anyone.

"Our vice president of manufacturing thinks outside of the box, and he'll hire people with no experience, and bring them in and train those individuals. And our people on the floor actually train the trainers so they end up training the people they hire in," said Nichols.

Leaders are hopeful the good news won't stop there and the business will continue to boom.

"We literally started with just a bare floor here and one line. And now it's completely full. And we have jobs that we've secured. And that's why I try to tell the community we'll move into Hillsdale if we get a job. We have jobs booked, sales," said Nichols.

If you'd like to apply, the best way is to go through South Central Michigan Works in Jackson.
