EL Officials Want Your Input on a New Development

Posted:

East Lansing city officials are ready to put the City Center Two Project behind them and are looking for new ideas for the future. The project has been struggling for years.

It was a plan several years in the making to turn the corner of Abbot and Grand River in East Lansing into a state of the art retail center. In June, that plan came to a halt when council members voted against it saying it posed too much of a financial risk.

Local business owners said they were disappointed the council didn't approve the City Center Two Project because they believed it would bring in a lot of business to the downtown area.

City officials are now looking for new ideas for the site. They're holding two meetings to get ideas from the public on future projects for development. The first meeting starts at 6p.m. Thursday at the Hannah Community Center on Abbot Road in East Lansing. The second meeting will be Friday night.

6 News will be following the progress of all development proposals and ideas for the Abbot-Grand River intersection, so stay tuned for updates.
