EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing City Council will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. on Saturday to interview the 16 applicants for the City Council vacancy.
During the meeting, applicants will be interviewed followed by public comment.
The applicants are:

The September 15 special meeting has been called for the purpose of replacing former councilmember Donald Power, who submitted his resignation to the East Lansing City Clerk's office on August 22. The East Lansing City Charter requires the City Council to make an appointment within 30 days of the vacancy.
The individual appointed by Council will serve until the November 2013 General Election, at which time the City Charter requires that an election be held to fill the balance of the unexpired term. The full term will expire in November 2015.
The meeting will be at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center and is open to the public. They will also be televised and re-played on WELG.
