The September 15 special meeting has been called for the purpose of replacing former councilmember Donald Power, who submitted his resignation to the East Lansing City Clerk's office on August 22. The individual appointed by Council will serve until the November 2013 General Election, at which time the City Charter requires that an election be held to fill the balance of the unexpired term. The full term will expire in November 2015.

The meeting will be at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center and is open to the public. They will also be televised and re-played on WELG.
