"Art From the Heart" Features Disabled Artists

Posted:

Peckham Community Partnership Foundation has partnered with the MSU Federal Credit Union in East Lansing to bring the annual "Art From the Heart" exhibit.

The program features artwork from dozens of artists, all with some kind of disability.

"Art From the Heart" started with four artists and has expanded to provide daily art classes for more than 80 people.

"We allow everyone to be what they are, no labels, and stereotypes are left at the door. When they come into the art room, they work together, they support each other. It's a sense of freedom without competition," said Director Sue McGuire.

There's a special reception planned from 5:30 until 7p.m. Monday where all the artists will be there to talk about their artwork.

The program runs until September 25th.
