Lawmakers to Reduce Auto Insurance Premiums

Posted:

The state insurance industry wants to reduce auto insurance premiums by going after fraud in the system, which in Michigan, totals about $400 million a year.

Lawmakers are being asked to create a fraud authority outside of state government to be funded with $27 million from insurance companies. If that works, motorists may be asked to chip in $2 to continue the program.

The bill is pending in the Michigan House.
