Air Travel Continues on 9-11 Anniversary

Posted:

Since September 11, airport security certainly looks different with enhanced screenings, flying restrictions and longer bag checks.

"I'm traveling on business to Omaha, Nebraska. I'm looking forward to it, they have great steaks there," said Karen Blohm.

Blohm travels a few times a month and says the World Trade Center Attacks 11 years ago hasn't changed her travel habits, but has made her more alert and suggests other to do the same.

"Don't be afraid, go about your business, work with others to make sure things get better, keep an eye out for things that look unusual and do your job," said Blohm.

"My friends have asked me why I would fly on such a special day and I say well, I'm not going to let the terrorists win, I am going to do it my way," said Frequent Flyer Dan Rabadouex.

For Dan Rabaduex that means frequent air travel for business. Today alone he will be on three different flights and says with enhanced security measures, people shouldn't stay away from airports.

"It's made traveling more inconvenient, but as long as you do everything right, it's not a problem," said Rabaduex.

When it comes to safety, Lori Certo says she has gotten used to all the checkpoints and feels about the same as she did 11 years ago.

"You just live day by day, have fun day by day and enjoy life as much as you can. If you live in fear all the time, you'll never have any fun," said Certo.

September 11th is a day these travelers say they will never forget and live in history forever, but will not change their lifestyle.

"I think that's what terrorists want us to do, change our life and do things differently. We need to carry on. We are Americans. Our freedom is our way of life and if they take that away, they take away everything."
