Lake Michigan Approaches Record Low

Posted:

Just one look and you can see Lake Michigan is low and it's quickly approaching the record.

The lake is just one foot away from the previously set record and experts say we're not in the clear just yet. Officials predict we'll set a new record low in November and December.

"No water equals no boats, no boats equals no stone, no stone equals no business."

So why are levels so low? The Army Corps of Engineers says last winter was so mild the lake didn't freeze which meant more evaporation. We also didn't get much snow, combined with this summer's heat and lack of rain.
