Speaker of the House to Testify Before Grand Jury

Posted:

The GOP Speaker of the Michigan House will likely be called to testify before a one person grand jury regarding his role in trying to rig an election in Grand Rapids. Representative Jase Bolger has apologized for his mistakes.
West Michigan Republican Represepntative Ken Yonker is getting plenty of negative comments from his constituents and while he will not confirm it, it is known that the thought of running against Bolger for Speaker has "entered his mind," but many political observers in this town, dismiss the speculation.
"I don't think it's that big of a deal frankly. Maybe it is? But if I were Jase, I'd just keep forging ahead and doing what needs to be done in his district," said CEO and Principal Consultant at Truscott Rossman Kelly Rossman-McKinney.
If Yonker challenges the Speaker, it would be a long shot at best and one member of the Speaker's inner circle dismisses all this as a distraction.
"It's a distraction from what needs to be done. So we're not going to be distracted," said Republican Representative Peter Lund.
Recent polling data from Research Mark Grebner suggests the Speaker may be in trouble holding onto his seat. Democrats are shopping the story. Nonetheless, the democrats are trying to exploit Bolgers troubles and hope to gain seats as a result.
"When we get to Thanksgiving, we are not going to look at this as a turning point in Michigan history," said Senior Counsel at the Sterling Corporation Bob Labrant.
What really worries the republicans, a strong double figure win by the president in Michigan.
