5th Third Bank Volunteers Clean Up Elementary School

Posted:

Nearly 20 employees from 5th Third Bank came out to help beautify Lewton Elementary School in Lansing Wednesday. It was all part of the United Way Day of Caring.

Workers helped-out with yard work from removing weeds to spreading new mulch.

The school used to be Pre-K through 5th grade, but turned into a 4th through sixth grade school this fall. The principal says, making the surroundings nice, will make for an even better learning environment.

"It's a great feeling. That's what we're here for. We're bankers by day, but really this is our community so we want to give back and this is a sense of pride for our team as well," said Fifth Third Bank President Jason Sanders.

The principal says she's thankful for the volunteers help and believes the kids will love the new look.
