Lansing officials held their first Financial Health Team meeting Thursday.
The team will take a look at the city's financial performance, then make recommendations to the mayor on what needs to be done to keep Lansing's spending in check.
"Lansing is not going to become another Flint, Pontiac or Detroit. We're going to make the right decisions, we're going to make the crucial proactive decisions to keep Lansing on the right firm financial footing," said Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero.
The groups is headed by Mayor Bernero and former Mayor David Hollister.
