Detroit Police Chief Retires In Wake Of Sex Scandal

Detroit's mayor says police Chief Ralph Godbee has retired after an internal affairs officer revealed the two had been in a sexual relationship.

Mayor Dave Bing announced Monday morning that the 44-year-old Godbee submitted a letter of resignation, effective immediately, from the job he's held since 2010.

Bing placed him on a 30-day suspension last week pending an investigation into the claims by 37-year-old Angelica Robinson's attorney that she wanted the relationship to end and Godbee did not.

David Robinson says his client posted a photo of herself on Twitter with a gun in her mouth after learning Godbee was at a weekend conference with another woman.

He says Godbee had other officers locate Angelica Robinson and put her under surveillance. She has been reassigned to other duties.
