Michigan Absentee Ballots Late for Michigan Troops

Some Michigan members of the military and other residents living overseas, won't get their absentee ballots as early as they should have. Now, Secreatry of State Ruth Johnson and Attorney General Bill Schuette plan to take action.

The two plan to file a lawsuit requiring local clerks to extend the counting deadline for the absentee ballots, saying many clerks failed to mail requested absentee ballots by the deadline.

State Election Laws require they be sent out 45 days before the election and in some cases, they say that didn't happen.
