Lansing Police Sergeant Suspended After Drunk Driving

Posted:

Lansing Police Sergeant Todd Johnson was given three weeks suspension after he was arrested for drunk driving.

The arrest happened in DeWitt Township back in August. Johnson pled guilty to impaired driving last week after blowing twice the legal limit.

Chief Teresa Szymanski says he was given a three week suspension, which is separate from the criminal procedure, and is the harshest penalty she can put forth.

"Officers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner off duty as well as on duty as they represent the LPD. I expect only the best conduct from them, but most importantly the citizens of Lansing expect this of them as well," Szymanski said in a press release. "Sergeant Johnson's poor choice in this matter is regrettable."
