Susan G. Komen Looks for Healthy Breast Tissue Donors

The Susan G. Komen Mid-Michigan affiliate is calling on women with healthy breast tissue to donate. On November 3, the group will take a bus down to a tissue bank in Indianapolis for an all-day event.

Organizers say so often researchers study cancerous tissue, but have few opportunities to examine healthy tissue.

"To take kind of a retrospective look at what the tissue may have looked like before it turned cancerous will help them to more quickly, we hope, discover what causes breast cancer and maybe what went wrong in the process," said Executive Director of Mid-Michigan Susan G. Komen Chris Pearson.

The event is free and meals will be provided.
