Statewide Hunt For Man Shooting At Drivers

Posted:

A manhunt is underway for a person authorities say is shooting at cars as they drive by.

Ingham County Sheriff's Officials say at least five cars were hit last night along M-52 near Webberville.

It all started on tuesday. Officials describe it as a "possible road rage incident," but officials say he's also suspected of the same crime in Oakland, Shiawassee, and Livingston Counties as well.

"I would be concerned driving down 96, especially Oakland County, adjoining roadways," said Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte.

Police say he appears to be targeting the vehicles, and not the drivers. So far, no injuries have been reported.

Authorities say he's a white man, believed to be driving a dark 4-door mid-sized car, possibly a Chevy Cavalier.

"I don't know why, what would posses anybody to do that-- were they drunk? High on drugs? I mean there's a whole lot of factors that could enter into this. We just don't have the answers," said Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth. "Could charge him, conceivably, with attempted murder, I mean you shoot at somebody- thats a possibility."

Deputies say they recovered one of the bullets, but don't have any other leads. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Ingham County Sheriff's Office at 517-676-2431.
