Michigan v. Michigan State, Tigers Gear Sells Off the Shelves

Posted:

It's a big week for Michigan sports fans. The Wolverines and Spartans will face off Saturday in their annual rivalry game and the Tigers have just saved their spot in the World Series. Fans are making sure they're geared up.

It's one of the busiest weekends of the year for stores like Campus Den. Fans like Rob Silvas come in to buy more gear every time the blue and green rivalry rolls around.

"I think Michigan will score a lot and hopefully Michigan State don't score much at all," said Silvas.

Combined with the Tigers on their way to the World Series next week, sales are picking up even more for local businesses.

"We just had to place a big order for the american league championship stuff. Should be getting that soon and the phone's ringing off the hook and we've got people coming in nonstop looking for stuff," said Legends Employee Caleb Hafifley. "Once we get the World Series gear in, it's gonna sell as fast as we can get it in. Especially if they were to win it, sales would go through the roof. The further we get into it, the more sales pick up."

Matt Engels has already hit several stores in search of one thing.

"I wanted to get some tigers gear--I wanted to get the ALCS champion t-shirt that they had on last night after the game," said Engels.

Legends expects their next shipment will come in just in time for the Tigers' first World Series game.

Until then, the Michigan v. Michigan State game gets underway at 3:30 Saturday in Ann Arbor.
