Habitat for Humanity Builds House in Jackson

Posted:

A special day of service in Jackson as two groups came together to swing hammers with the greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity.

A group from Consumers Energy and the entire Spring Arbor University Girl's basketball team helped out with a house on Harris Street. The volunteers helped put siding on the outside and did plenty of work on the inside.

The volunteers say it's hard work, but they especially enjoyed learning from the regular construction crew.

"It's been a really great experience. I love all the men that are here leading it. They're really cool, and they're just really sweet spirited. And you can just really tell that they're doing this for more than just the construction part. They really want to pour into these people's lives and help them," said senior basketball player Alex Glenn.

Habitat for Humanity works to provide low-cost, no-interest homes to families in Jackson. Volunteers from around the community continuously work on home projects each year.
