Sault Ste Marie 20-St Johns 21

To St. Johns, division two opening round matchup between St. Johns and Sault Saint Marie.

St. Johns led 7-nothing and had the Blue Devils backed up deep in their own territory, from the 1 yard line, the Soo QB Michael James with the keeper. He finds a hole and a seam in the red wing defense. Nifty cutback and he gets it all the way to midfield, that set up the Devils' 1st TD but the extra point was blocked.

Now on the ensuing kickoff, take a look at T.J. Havens., pick it up on the roll and he takes right off. Darts his way past all of the pursuing defenders and all the way into the opposing endzone. 63 yards for a touchdown and a 14 to 6 Red Wing lead...

Ring that bell girls.

Some razzle dazzle before the half by Sault St. Marie on 4th and goal...Michael James fumbles but I believe that was intentional, then a shovel pass to Kyle Root, he cuts back, fumbles at the goal line but the Blue Devils recover in the endzone to make it.

14 to 12 at the half, the Soo took the lead 20 to 14 but St. Johns scored with 9 minutes left and celebrated a 21 to 20 win to move on.
