Michigan authorities say more than 20 random shootings mostly targeting passing cars have now been reported in a four-county region.

A police task force is investigating 22 shootings in Livingston, Oakland, Ingham and Shiawassee counties. There have been no new shootings since Thursday, although authorities have added two from the small mid-Michigan city of Perry, off U.S. 69.

The incidents appear to be random, but police are investigating them as a pack.

In the Walled Lake school district, students in Wixom were kept indoors for recess Monday, with locked doors. Wixom has had half the shootings.

The shootings mostly involve cars near Interstate 96, though authorities have said one occurred while a man was taking out his garbage. In another, a woman said her car's rear window was shattered.

Authorities on Sunday released a drawing of a man suspected in the shootings. Tipsters tell police he appears to be a white man in his 30s. Tipsters are telling police the gunman appears to be in his 30s with close-cropped hair and cheek stubble.

Witnesses say the suspect may have been driving a black '98 Oldsmobile Alero or a '98 Toyota Camry, like those pictured at left.
