Task Force Formed to Resolve 911 Dispatch Issues

Posted:

6 News broke the news last night that fire and police are fed up with the new 9-1-1 dispatch center which has had several issues since it's open this summer. Now Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has announced that a task force has been formed with Lansing and East Lansing to work with Ingham County.

The Lansing-East Lansing Fire Chief Randy Talifarro will lead the force. It will include people from both municipalities, plus Ingham County who currently operates the dispatch center.

Bernero insists that despite the issues, when people call 9-1-1, the call will be answered and will have resonders sent immediately.

"The small number of instances where an unnecessary delay has occurred are being thoroughly investigated and whatever is found to have caused the delay will be diagnosed and fixed,"  said Bernero.
