An artistic craze sweeping the nation has now brushed into Lansing and is here to stay.
The ribbon is cut and the easels are up in Lansing's newest art-traction, "Painting With a Twist," which was officially unveiled in Frandor.
"When you come in, the artist is on stage, everything is set up, everyone gets settled and the artist walks you through which brush to use, where to start and you do it all together, including the artist on-stage," said owner Diane Wey.
The learn-as-you-go group style is what attracted owner Diane Wey of Lansing to bring this creative concept to a local canvas. She says not only does it help amateur and brand new artists "brush up" on their skills, but it also brings out the best in the people painting.
Artists who soon discover they're not just painting for themselves but, also for the community. Each month, a new local non-profit will receive 50 percent of the proceeds from community classes.
But that's not the twist from the title... As the rules on the wall show, this painting class has plenty to "wine" about.
"There are special rules. Make sure you don't dip your paint brush in your drink. But we promise you won't ruin your painting, you keep it and have a good time."
