Cops Continue to Investigate Monday Incident

Posted: Updated:

Michigan State Police and several other agencies spent Monday combing Livingston County after reports of a possible shooting along a highway near Brighton.

A woman called around 9:15am. saying her car had been shot at on US-23 going south bound near I-96. She wasn't injured, but investigators spent the morning searching that stretch of the highway with feet on the ground and eyes in the air.

They say the woman's car was likely hit by some other projectile, NOT a bullet.Police have been spotted pulling over cars that match the description of the suspect's vehicle: a black four door sedan.

Brighton schools went into lockdown as a precaution.

There have been over two dozen shootings reported in the last week and half in an area that stretches from Oakland to Livingston to Ingham Counties. The most recent cases happened Saturday. In that case, a man was wounded when the bullet pierced his door.

He received medical treatment at a hospital and has since been released.
