A local soldier will soon add another award to his collection. Army Specialist Anthony Lee Sands of Mason will be honored with a Purple Heart.
Sands was injured during an explosion while serving in Iraq.
He was discharged in 2011 after serving eight years with the Michigan National Guard.
U.S. Representative Mike Rogers is expected to present the award.
