Police Say Monday Incident Was NOT A Shooting

Posted:

Brighton State Police have now confirmed that the incident on US-23 and I-96 was NOT a shooting.

They are still investigating what could have caused the window of the car to shatter.

Police continue to look for vehicles that match the description of the suspect's car believed involved in the shootings, a black four door car, possibly an '98 Alero or Camry. Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw in Brighton said Monday afternoon that some type of "projectile" likely hit the car of a woman driving earlier in the day on U.S. 23 near Interstate 96.

While patrolling, a man was pulled over and arrest for outstanding warrants. He is not connected with the roadway shootings.

Police say two weekend shootings are linked to the spree of at least 24 reports of gunfire near the interstate. They include one that injured a motorist.

Shaw urges motorists and others in the corridor to "be vigilant" but not to alter their behavior.
