Police say a bullet was not responsible for shattering a car window along US 23 in Brighton Monday morning.
Local authorities, along with the FBI and ATF are still looking for a person who they believe is responsible for shooting at 25 vehicles throughout four counties.
6 News spoke with a criminal justice professor at MSU who says with this type of case, the more help from the public the better.
"It's sometimes the littlest bit of information that somebody gets or provides that can break a case like this," said associate professor Chris Melde.
Chris Melde a criminal justice professor at MSU says that's because it's so rare and spread out, covering over 100 miles and four counties.
"The information released to the public is meant to help, but it shouldn't limit the information that people are willing to share," Melde said.
Melde says anything suspicious should be reported and not to rely only on police descriptions, something that was seen in the Washington DC sniper case of 2002.
"A lot of people were looking for a white male, in his thirties driving a white van and of course the DC sniper case came down to two African American gentleman in a blue car."
In mid-Michigan police are looking for a dark four door vehicle, possibly a late 90's olds aero or Toyota Camry.
"That description and that vehicle description and person description was given by someone who was shot at in the evening, exactly how accurate that is remains to be seen," said Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth.
Sheriff Wriggelsworth says even though there is one description, they have not ruled out that there may be others involved.
It's a case that authorities and Melde say will be solved by law enforcement with help from the public.
The reward being offered by the FBI, ATF and various agencies is up to $102,000.
