Some 143,000 people are out of power across the state after winds reaching up to 74 miles per hour took out trees and power lines.
Consumers Energy reports scattered outages across mid-Michigan. They say that 33,000 of its customers lost power at some point, and 3,900 remained without service Tuesday afternoon. As of 5 a.m., they have reports from the following counties:
Jackson - 680
Clinton - 625
Hillsdale - 530
Eaton - 270
Ingham - 260
Shiawassee - 40
Livingston - 25
Consumers says crews have been working to restore power throughout the night and that most people should have the lights back on by the middle of the day.
DTE says power is out to 110,000 of its customers.
Between 100 and 500 of them are in Ingham County's White Oak Township. Somewhere between 500 and 1,500 customers are out of power just north of Brighton. There are also spotty outages across Livingston County,
Lansing's Board of Water and Light did not have any outages to report as of 5 a.m.
The weather has prompted warnings for the Great Lakes, with waves up to 23 feet reported on Lake Huron.
