Michigan State Readies for Nebraska Cornhuskers

This weekend the Michigan State football team will take on the cornhuskers of Nebraska. It's the first time Nebraska fans will make the trip to East Lansing since their team joined the big ten conference.

"We travel quite well. We take pride in getting into other stadiums and filling it with red," said Mike Morgan, a Nebraska football fan. "We're getting ready to tour and look around the campus a little bit. Walk down to the stadium and so far we're pretty impressed."

Morgan will soon be joined by fellow Cornhuskers at the East Lansing Marriot, where Nebraska's Alumni Association reserved an entire block of rooms.

"This upcoming weekend we're guessing probably half the guests will be visiting from Nebraska" said Eric Sudol, General Manager of the East Lansing Marriott.

Sudol remembers the last time Nebraska nation made the trip to Mid-Michigan, a decade ago.

"Ten years ago they came to town and certainly Nebraska fans travel well, so we're expecting the same this year," remembers Sudol.

The hotel welcomes all visitors. This Iowa Hawkeye flag welcomed the school's volleyball team. Sudol says come Saturday, it'll be replaced with an MSU and a Nebraska flag.

"I think they're gonna bring a huge fan base. They travel real well. I think there's gonna be tons of red out here," said Andrew Banlini, an MSU football fan.

Though Banlini thinks Nebraska fans will come in big numbers, he's expecting gracious visitors.

The MSU Athletic department said it reserved 4,000 tickets for a Nebraska fan section at Spartan Stadium and there are only a few hundred still available.
