Attorneys from both sides met Thursday in regards to 55-year-old John White. Attorney's spoke about scheduling a preliminary trial and giving White a psychological or criminal evaluation. That date has not been set yet, but a court administer says it could be upwards of a month before that happens.
White is charged with first degree murder in the death of Gay.
Gay's body was found November 1. Police say White confessed to beating her to death then disposing of her body after fantasizing about it in the coming days.
White has a criminal record dating back more than three decades. In 1981, he was charged with assault with intent to murder in Calhoun County and served two years behind bars. In 1995, he was charged with murdering a 26-year old in Kalamazoo County and pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He was released in February of 2007.
