Accused Serial Shooter Charged in 60 New Counts

The man police say is a suspect in the highway serial shootings now faces 60 new charges as of Friday.

43-year-old Raulie Casteel was charged in the following:

  • 14 counts for two incidents in Wixom on October 17th
  • 38 counts for six incidents in Wixom on October 18th
  • 8 counts for one incident in Commerce Twp on October 17th

He entered a not guilty plea to all counts.

Investigators say in these shootings, they were able to tie ballistics to the 9mm handgun found in Casteel's home. They say they also found a shell casing wedged in his windshield wiper.

6 News did learn Casteel has been unemployed for two years.

Casteel didn't say much in court and his lawyer says he hasn't said much to him, either; Casteel hasn't seen any police reports yet. The arriangment lasted about 20 minutes. He sat with very few facial expressions, nearly never changing--leaving many to wonder what is running through his mind...

The Wixom Police Chief says they haven't been able to learn more about what prompted him to do this. He said it's unlikely we'll ever know, unless Casteel tells them or somene who does know, gives them that information.

His bond was denied on the counts of attempted to murder.
