Local, State Officials Gather At MSU For Museum Dedication


EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Local and state officials along with hundreds of members of the public gathered at Michigan State University Saturday morning for a dedication ceremony of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Gov. Rick Snyder were on hand, along with lead architect Zaha Hadid. Donor and museum namesake Eli Broad had the ribbon-cutting honor, and after the official ceremony, groups of the general public received 30 minute tours of the new museum.

The museum's focus is on global contemporary art, but will also house older collections from the now defunct Kresge Art Museum.

The Broad Art Museum will offiically open its doors to the public Sunday, November 11 at 10 a.m.
