UPDATE: 2-Year-Old Dies From Burns in Mobile Home Fire


A 2-year-old girl has passed away after was badly burned in her home.

The fire broke out around 1:30a.m. Tuesday at the Fairview Mobile Home Estates on the north side of Howell.

Officials say the girl had burns covering 95 percent of her body and was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital. There was another child, plus the girl's parents in the home when the fire started. They are being treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire investigators aren't sure what caused the fire, but believed it may have started in the bedroom. They say the house had smoke detectors, but it doesn't appear they were working. As of now, they say it's not suspicious.

They say the house is a total loss.
