Families in need of food and meals across Mid-Michigan will soon have plenty to be thankful for this holiday season thanks to a special group of michigan students.
Fill 'em up. Seal 'em up. Then lay 'em out. These Future Farmers of America Students are taking a hands-on approach to helping fight hunger. They lined the halls of the Lexington Lansing Hotel putting together more than 35,000 meal packets that will soon be shipped out to local families in need this holiday season.
"More than 20 percent of families in Michigan don't know where there next meal is coming from and the kids hunger program will provide meals for those individuals," said Randy Showerman, the MSU Supervisor for agriculture ducation.
It also provides a great opportunity for FFA students to get involved locally and make a difference at time when those families in need, need it most.
With a growing number of food packets being boxed up for shipment, organizers of the Kids Against hunger Campaign know they're hard work will pay off now and later.
Yet another reason to celebrate feeding families around the world and around the corner.
To go along with the food packets, FFA Chapters throughout Michigan will also be donating money to the Kids Against Hunger program thanks to generous contributions from local businesses and causes.
