Gas Prices Skyrocket Ahead Of Thanksgiving Holiday

If you can fill up for $3.20 a gallon today - jump on it.

Gas prices started to skyrocket - one day ahead of one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Prices, which had ranged as low as $3.20 at many area stations, jumped to $3.65 at a Lansing Speedway.

That company often sets the standard for others to follow.

GasBuddy issued an alert just before the surge, warning people about increases because of the rising cost of wholesale gas, plus growing costs for oil and a rising stock market.

The 40-cent or more increase is just one day ahead of a busy travel season. TripAdvisor says a third of Americans plan to travel this season - and that most of them intend to drive.
