Man Arrested After Cops Find Meth Lab

An Eaton Rapids man is behind bars today after a police raided a home a discovered a meth lab.

The Tri-County Metro Narcotics Squad raided the home just before 3 a.m. on Thursday morning after a two-month investigation.

They arrested a 36-year-old man after finding the ingredients used to make meth by what experts describe as the "one pot" method.

"This is an extremely dangerous method of producing methamphetamine," Detective First Lieutenant Timothy Gill said in a press release. "The chemical reaction created when the components are mixed is highly flammable and poses an extreme risk of explosion."

Gill says a similar case triggered an explosion and seriously burned a Lansing man just last week.

The suspect is at the Eaton County jail. He'll likely spend the weekend there and police say he'll face formal charges on Monday relating to having the components to make meth.

Nick Perreault is working this story and will have more tonight on 6 News at 6.
