LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Two men have been charged in connection with a car racing accident that killed a 55-year-old man from Owosso on Thanksgiving.

Kevin Hart, 19, and 20-year-old Charles Mitts are both charged with reckless driving, and are facing up to 15 years in prison.

The accident happened on Thursday shortly after noon at N. Shiawassee and North streets in Owosso.

Officials say witnesses told them the two men were drag racing with pickup trucks on Shiawassee Street. The victim, Darrell Hall, was making a left onto North when he was struck by the vehicle driven by Kevin Hart.

Police say Mitts fled the scene, but was later arrested by Owosso police.
