UPDATE: Body in River Ruled Drowning

UPDATE: Lansing police have released the identity of the person pulled out of the Red Cedar River.

Police now say it appears 17-year-old Artvon Lamar Moore drowned. They do not suspect any foul play.

Moore's body was pulled from the river Friday.

A caller directed them to the body near the intersection of River and Spring Streets, near where the Grand and Red Cedar rivers converge.

Divers pulled the body from the water around 2 p.m. An ambulance crew took the body to Sparrow Hospital for an autopsy.

 

ORIGINAL STORY (12:40pm): Police are investigating a body that's been found in the Grand Red Cedar River in Lansing.

They found it along the river trail near the intersection of River and Spring Streets.

That's close to the center of town just south of Interstate 496.

Police got the call just before noon. They blocked off the area and are sending a dive team to check it out.

They are on the scene and so are we.

We'll have more details online and on the air later tonight on 6 News.
