UPDATE: Woman Found Dead in Red Cedar River Identified

UPDATE: Lansing Police say they've identified the woman found in the Red Cedar River over the weekend; They're now working to notify her family.

Police say the woman died of an apparent gun shot wound. Sunday, the Ingham County Medical Examiners report shows the woman was shot before her body wound up in the water.

Her body was found by a passer-by Saturday, just before Noon near Crego Park at Mount Hope and Aurelius.

The woman's body was pulled from the water Saturday afternoon by the Lansing Dive Team.

Lansing Police continue to investigate this murder and are asking for help from the public.

This is the second body pulled from the Red Cedar River just since Friday.

The other was that of a 17 year old boy from Lansing ,who police say drown.

They don't suspect foul play in that case.

Lansing, Mich. (WLNS) -- Lansing Police say a woman was found dead floating in the Red Cedar River near Aurelius and Mt. Hope Saturday around 11:45 a.m.

The Capital Area Dive Team recovered the woman's body Saturday afternoon. Police say she appears to be between 20 - 30 years old.

LPD is investigating this death as a homicide.

The woman's body has been turned over to the Ingham Co. Medical Examiner for forensic testing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 483-stop.
