12 Charged In Prescription Drug Abuse Bust

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A dozen people are facing felony charges in connection with a prescription drug abuse bust, Lansing police say.

Officials said on Monday afternoon that they believe there were two separate drug rings operating between the 12 people facing charges. Drugs like Vicodin and Oxycontin were reportedly obtained via prescription and sold on the streets for profit.

Lansing police and Ingham County prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III says the investigation started in May, and that of the 12 people charged, seven have been arrested. Officials are still searching for the remaining five suspects. Nine suspects have been charged by the Ingham County prosecutor, and three have been charged by the attorney general.

The suspects face a maximum of four years in prison.
