City To Close Roads Around Capitol

The city of Lansing will close the roads around the Michigan Capitol on Tuesday.

That's in anticipation of substantial crowds expected to show up to protest the legislature's votes on two "Right To Work" bills.

The bills, if passed, would let workers decide whether to join unions in places where it used to be required.

Unions, obviously, are upset about the move. Thousands of union leaders and union members are expected to show up to make their voices heard.

In response, the city will close the roads around the Capitol to try and keep the public safe.

The roads that will be closed are:

  • Capital from Ionia to Allegan
  • Michigan from Washington to Capital
  • Ottawa from Capital to Walnut
  • Allegan from Capital to Walnut
  • Walnut from Allegan to Ottawa
