Suspected Highway Shooter Faces Terrorism Charge

Posted: Updated:

Raulie Casteel now faces a new felony charge in the I-96 shooting spree.

Attorney General Bill Schuette brought down the charges Thursday. He is being charged with seven felonies, including terrorism, a life-time offense, felony firearms and assault with intent to murder. These include 21 of the shooting incidents throughout the state of Michigan.

He's expected to be arraigned next Thursday on the charges.

"These were acts of domestic terrorism against Michigan citizens and we are prosecuting them as such," said Schuette in a press release.

Casteel already faces over 60 charges in Oakland County and six counts in Livingston County. Those charges include attempted murder. He entered a not guilty plea to all counts.

He's suspected in over two dozen incidents that cover a 100-mile crimescene. One man was injured when a bullet pierced his driver's side door, hitting him in the buttox.
