Man Charged for Ramming Police Car on New Years

A Lansing man is behind bars after hitting a police officer's patrol car, then trying to flee.

It happened just before 4a.m. on New Years Day on N. Grand River. 40-year-old Daniel Dario Trevino now faces felony charges for fleeing from an officer and assault with a dangerous weapon. Trevino also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving with impaired. This is his fourth offense and is considered a 'habitual offender.'

The officer spotted the vehicle, which had extreme damage to the body, including a missing rear bumper, drivers and passengers side panels and a wheel.

Trevino failed to stop for several blocks. The officer then got out of his car, when it was rammed in the front and the suspect again drove off. The driver was followed and again stopped blocks away and placed under arrest.

Police believe alcohol was a factor.

Trevino is being held on $10,000 bond and is due back in court Tuesday.
