John White Declared Competent to Stand Trial

The 55-year-old man suspected in the Halloween killing of a Mount Pleasant area woman, has been ruled competent to stand trial.

According to our media partners at MLive, an Isabella County Judge declared John White competent to face first-degree murder and open murder charges.

White is a former pastor accused of killing his fiance's 24-year-old daughter, Rebekah Gay. He had told police previously he fantasized of murdering and having sex with the woman's dead body for weeks leading up to her death.

Police tell us that Gay was killed in her home and her body was dumped in a wooded area near Coldwater and Pickard Roads.

According to MLive, White is due back in court on January 10.
