Haircuts and services offered to the homeless.

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) January 04, 2013

Project Homeless Connect aided over 300 men and women, connecting them with health and social services including haircuts, the experience was as rewarding for the service providers according to Frances Fletcher of Belleza Hair Design. This was the first opportunity that Belleza Hair Design had to participate in the annual Project Homeless Connect a program of Milwaukee Continuum of Care.
Even with 15 years of experience, Frances shared that she learned new techniques and tricks not just from the other stylists, but the patrons of the event as well. The event was fast paced and there was sometimes a line while patrons waited their turn. Even with that pace, each client that sat in my chair I worked to connect with, “We laughed, we shared, we connected,” shared Frances. After their haircut the men and women we served, were noticeably more confident and proud.

The goal of the event is to provide assistance to the growing population of homeless people with an opportunity to learn about programs, develop skills, and gain confidence to help them overcome their current obstacles.

Project Homeless Connect gave Frances the opportunity to serve the community through her craft and has left her wishing to give back again. Frances is looking forward to participating again next year. “I will be better prepared for the pace and some of the style requests,” Frances jokes. Until then, Frances will focus on her current clients at Belleza Hair Design in Mequon. Belleza is a full service salon focused on precision hair design offering Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Treatments as well as Organic hair color line.
